There was an short-lived Emperor of the Amazon, Fernando de GÃºzman, named as such by the rebels led by Lope de Aguirre after they had murdered Pedro de UrsÃºa, leader of the ill-fated expedition to the lands of Omagua in 1559. GÃºzman was shortly killed in turn by Lope de Aguirre.
